IFPA Abortion Campaigning Called “Not Charitable”
James Scott, writing in the "Irish Independent" recently, criticised the case before the European Court of Human Rights “taken against our Government by three women, who are supported by our Irish Family Planning Association [the IFPA is an affiliate of the International Planned Parenthood Federation], alleging that our Government has infringed upon their human rights by not offering them abortion facilities”.
He points out that the IFPA “receives Irish taxpayers' money because of its charitable status!” “Our legislation”, he continues, “specifically states that charities only receive this status if they have been established for charitable purposes only, and only use their income for charitable purposes.
I'm an Irish taxpayer and, because our Irish Family Planning Association lobbies for abortion facilities in Ireland, I strongly object to it having charitable status”. The Irish Independent. April 29.
