Slovakia to Consider Informed Consent Before Abortion Despite Abortion Lobby’s... : 24th Jun 09
Slovakia’s parliament will discuss amending the country’s abortion law in a way that pro-life groups believe will reduce the abortion level by better protecting the health and well-being of mothers and giving preborn babies more protection.
The proposal before the Slovak Parliament on informed consent is based on the concept that a woman contemplating abortion has the right to receive information on all of her options, as well as information on dangers such as death and post-abortion depression, and alternatives to abortion.
Studies show that as many as 85 percent of women surveyed believe abortion centres misinformed them or denied them relevant information during pre-abortion “counseling”. [D. Reardon, Aborted Women: Silent No More, 16-17, 335 (1987)].
The USA-based pro-abortion Centre for Reproductive Rights (CRR) is opposing the proposed changes. ELN. June 12.
