Two out of Three US Abortion Centres Close : 1st Feb 10
More than two-thirds of all the abortion centres in the USA went out of business in the last 19 years. That is the conclusion of the pro-life group Operation Rescue (OR). OR president, Troy Newman, reports that in 1991, it was estimated that there were nearly 2,200 abortion centres in the country, but today there are just 712.
The pro-life movement has made major strides in exposing and closing them, and shifting public opinion toward the pro-life position, resulting in lower abortion rates. The days of legal abortion in the USA are numbered, Newman believes.
Pro-life sentiment continues to gain ground as abortion’s support slips. Abortion centres keep closing as demand decreases and as pro-lifers increasingly expose abortionists’ misdeeds and report them to the authorities. Newman says pro-lifers can do more than simply protest abortion centres.
They can document their illegal and dangerous actions and work within the law to close them down. Tragically, though, the surviving abortion centres still kill more than a million American babies every year. B.G./Personal Update. January/February.
