Police Violate Pro-Lifers’ Rights in Spain : 18th Feb 10
Police removed a group of Spanish Right to Life advocates who gathered outside the Queen Sofia Museum in Madrid, where the European Human Rights Commission was conducting a meeting. The 15 pro-life protestors were carrying signs reading, “What about my rights?” alongside pictures of a baby at 13 weeks’ gestation.
Police forced them to leave the area. Ignacio Arsuaga, president of the watchdog group Hazte Oír, said the police humiliated the peaceful protestors “solely because they were showing the European ministers how Spanish President Jose Luis Rodriguez] Zapatero treats the right to life in Spain”.
President Zapatero backs a new law permitting the killing of babies up to the 14th week of pregnancy. Arsuaga urged pro-lifers to turn out for the March for Life that will take place on March 7th in hundreds of cities and towns across Spain. CAN. February 4.
