LIFE Refuses to Bow to CPA Abortion Demands : 9th Jul 07
Crisis Pregnancy Agency Continues to Pressurise Pro-Life Counsellig Agencies on Providing Abortion Information
Ireland's LIFE Pregnancy Care Service will not have its funding withdrawn despite standing firm on its policy not to distribute the Crisis Pregnancy Agency’s (CPA) pro-abortion “Positive Options” leaflets. The Crisis Pregnancy Agency (CPA), which provide LIFE with annual funding of around €300,000, had insisted on organisations it funds provide clients with contact information (in ‘Positive Options’) on groups such as the IFPA.
LIFE however refused to accede to the pro-abortion demands of the CPA. The CPA has now reached a settlement with LIFE that will allow it to continue with its ethical stance rejecting abortion.
A pro-life spokesman pointed out that this was the “second time the CPA has attempted to force a pro-life agency to refer women on to other agencies which will provide information on abortion services.
The CPA was set up to reduce the number of crisis pregnancies and thereby the numbers of women seeking abortions abroad. Its policies however seem to continually run counter to their brief and the Irish constitution by insisting that all counselling agencies provide information on abortion services abroad." ELN.
