Language of Irish Pro-Abortion Group, Doctors for Choice, Compared to that of Nazis
Fr Seamus Murphy SJ and Dr Kevin E O'Reilly of the Milltown Institute, Dublin, writing in “The Irish Times”, accused two members of Doctors For Choice of abusing language in the manner of the Nazi pursuit of the Aryan ideal. They wrote, “Drs Juliet Bressan and Mary Favier (I.T. March 25th) apply the rhetoric of rights to abortion, a misplaced and sinister application of this rhetoric. To demand the ‘right’ to abortion is to demand the ‘right’ to kill a human being.” The Milltown Institute lecturers said that even when there are complications during pregnancy, ”the unborn always remains a human being and, as such, is the subject of the most fundamental of human rights, namely the right to life”. They continued, “it is interesting to note that the Nazi pursuit of the Aryan ideal was characterised by the kind of abuse of language which Doctors for Choice display”. Crisis Pregnancy Agency Ups the Ante in Contraceptive Campaign
As part of its continuing contraceptive campaign in Ireland the Crisis Pregnancy Agency (CPA) has called for a reduction in the price of condoms. The CPA said that condoms need to be made more affordable, “so that young people and people with low incomes can protect themselves from unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections”. The CPA runs the controversial “Think Contraception” national advertising campaign and distributed 190,000 free condoms in 2006 to students. They are also involved in on-going controversy over its pro-abortion “Positive Options” campaign. Many of the CPA’s critics have called for a review of its policies and operations since it was established to reduce, not increase, the number of unwanted pregnancies and abortions. F&L.CPA. Condoms and Sexual Diseases—The UK Situation
An English GP with 30 years experience has taken issue in “The Irish Times” (March 29) with the various campaigns in Ireland promoting condoms as the solution to unwanted pregnancies and cutting STIs. According to Dr John Lalor of the Bognor Health Centre, West Sussex, “I have worked as a GP in a society where the number of teenage pregnancies, the number of sexually-transmitted diseases and the number of single mothers have increased exponentially. Free contraception, early sexual education, and free health care have been available. My view, extraordinarily, is that the British model is an absolute failure.” The Irish Times. March 29. END.
UK Branch of Amnesty International Endorses Abortion
Members of Amnesty International’s UK branch (AIUK) voted recently to endorse advocating abortion as a human right. Catholic News Service (CNS) reported that delegates attending the 2007 National Conference and AGM in Edinburgh approved the AIUK Board’s proposals to abandon the long-held neutral stance on abortion. AIUK formally adopted the proposals advocating legalization of abortion in cases of rape, incest, sexual assault and when the mother's life is at risk. This was despite the fact that a consultation report showed AIUK members closely divided over abortion. The International Executive Committee of Amnesty International may decide as early as next month whether or not to change the current position depending on the support its receives from its national chapters. Both the Catholic Church and other pro-life organizations have warned that abortion advocacy will lead to an unnecessary split in Amnesty International, and it will lose their support. CNS. Planned Parenthood Will Push Morning After Pill in Every Community
Planned Parenthood of America has launched a “Pill Patrol” campaign across the USA to ensure that every pharmacy in the country stocks Plan B, the current “emergency contraception”. Activists and volunteers will visit their area pharmacies and request the morning after pill. They will report on the cost of the pill, its non-availability and any resistance on the part of the pharmacy’s staff. The campaign is intended to put pressure on all pharmacies to dispense the MAP, notwithstanding moral objections. Lifenews.com. CLICK TO READ MORE.....
