Northern Ireland Leaders Confident They Can Defeat Attempts to Foist Abortion on Province

Northern Ireland’s First Minister Peter Robinson appears confident he can count on the help of UK prime minister Gordon Brown and the Conservative leadership at Westminster to defeat attempts to extend the British Abortion Act to Northern Ireland. As DUP leader, Mr Robinson secured an "understanding" from Mr Brown that the government will not propose any change to the law. This has convinced DUP MPs that they can successfully see off an effort by a cross-party group of backbenchers to extend the abortion law to Northern Ireland by way of an amendment to the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill in.... In-Utero Surgery Performed at Rotunda Saves Lives of Twin Girls

Surgery performed on unborn babies in the womb has been used to save the lives of twin girls in the Rotunda Hospital in Dublin. It was the second such operation performed in Ireland, the hospital said in a statement. Lauren and Sophie Greene were born in April, three months after an operation to treat the life-threatening condition, twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome. Advances in the field of in-utero surgery have led to a dramatic increase in the chances of survival for babies with the syndrome, according to Professor Fergal Malone of the Rotunda. Dr Michael Geary, Master of the Rotunda, said, “Doctors at the hospital continue to provide new hope to women whose pregnancies run into life-threatening difficulties as a result of....” Details: CLICK TO READ MORE.....

‘IVF Nearly Killed Me and Baby’

A woman in Britain has described how she and her baby came close to death during IVF treatment. Ms Soozi Rowbotham, 41, of London, suffered from ovarian hyper stimulation syndrome (OHSS) and considered aborting her baby when she experienced so much pain during the IVF process. She added, “Most severe OHSS sufferers lose their baby or suffer heart attacks or even brain damage. I’ve been very lucky.” “We’d love another child and have all the forms ready to start the long process of adoption.” She and her son, now aged three, are now.... Details: CLICK TO READ MORE.....

British Pro-Life Group Opposes Further Easing of Abortion Restrictions

The Alive and Kicking campaign is against the abolition of the requirement for two doctors' consent for abortion, which some MPs are proposing in an amendment to the Human Fertilisation and Embryology (HFE) Bill. Campaign spokeswoman Julia Millington was commenting after the government reported that the number of abortions in England and Wales was the highest ever last year. The group also opposes changes that would allow nurses and midwives to perform abortions. Miss Millington said that women are using abortion as contraception and the government's birth control campaign is futile. Amendments to the HFE Bill which are likely to be considered again by the House of Commons .... Details: CLICK TO READ MORE.....

German Chancellor Merkel Opposes "Every Form of Assisted Suicide"

German news sources report that German Chancellor Angela Merkel has spoken out in the strongest terms against euthanasia in the wake of the suicide of an elderly woman. Merkel, said that she is against "every form of assisted suicide," regardless of the circumstances. Merkel's stance was echoed by Germany's Health Minister Ulla Schmidt. "I reject this path categorically", she said. "The correct path is to offer assistance to those who are dying instead of helping those free from terminal illness to commit suicide.” Merkel's (CDU) party plans to introduce legislation which would make involvement in assisted suicide a crime carrying a prison term... Conference on Men and Effects of Abortion

“Reclaiming Fatherhood: A Multifaceted Examination of Men Dealing with Abortion” is the theme of a conference to be held in Chicago, USA, in early September. According to the conference organisers, “the question of the impact of abortion on men has long been ignored and there are millions of men around the world who are in need of help”. Men are the hidden partners in every abortion decision. More than 40 million abortions have occurred in the U.S. alone since abortion was legalised there. Worldwide the estimates are that more than 43 million abortions occur every year. In every abortion decision there is a man involved in some way. The man’s role or lack of role in the decision can create a stream of consequences that may accompany him through the rest of his life... Details: CLICK TO READ MORE.....
