Amniocentesis Causing Patients to Abort Late in Second Trimester
According to a report in the Irish Medical News, there is a link between amniocentesis, the results and the decision of women to abort in the second trimester of pregnancy. The report, by Dr Tony Walsh, Medical Director of the Sims Fertility Clinic in Dublin, pointed out the experiences of a number of pregnant IVF patients of the clinic, who were aged over 40, and who attended maternity hospitals for antenatal care. Many of these pregnant patients, according to Dr Walsh, “were strongly advised by the medical staff (of the maternity hospitals) to have amniocentesis because of the known increased incidence of... Crisis Pregnancy Agency—‘An Adjunct of the Irish Family Planning Association’
A spokesperson for Family & Life claimed that the recent figures released by the Crisis Pregnancy Agency (CPA) alleging that 373,000 teenagers used its text service during the past three years were “an outrageous lie!” He claimed that this propaganda was been “bandied about by the CPA” to justify its own existence. In his view, the CPA is no more than “an adjunct to the Irish Family Planning Association” with the added benefit of having the ability to waste... Details: CLICK TO READ MORE.....
Botched Abortion Doctor Must ‘Update his Skills’
In the UK, a Worcestershire gynaecologist who left a woman in need of life-saving treatment after a botched abortion can practice again if he undergoes retraining. The General Medical Council (GMC) found Andrew Gbinigie guilty of serious professional misconduct in 2003. He had mistakenly pulled out the woman's ovary and part of her bowel. Recently, a GMC panel ruled that Mr Gbinigie could stay on the register on condition that he “regain and update his clinical skills”. The GMC will review Mr Gbinigie's case again in nine months, when it will examine evidence of his retraining. Chairman Dr Howard Freeman told the gynaecologist: “The panel notes that you have not undertaken any medical work since 2003 and is not satisfied that you would be safe to return at this time to unrestricted practice.” BBC. British Doctors: Second Part of Abortion Drug Unsafe for Women
British doctors have released the results of a study on the use of the anti-ulcer drug Cytotec, a prostaglandin known generically as misoprostol. They strongly warn those using the drug to induce labour that it can cause medical problems. In the RU-486 abortion process, women take two pills to complete the abortion. The first drug deprives the unborn child of the nourishment he or she normally receives during the pregnancy from her mother, leading to death. The second drug causes contractions and induces labour, expelling the baby's body. Dr. Zarko Alfirevic and Dr. Andrew Weeks, both obstetricians at England's University of Liverpool, completed a study of more than 8,600 women using the drug and said, “much more data are needed before we can be confident that there are no adverse effects from using the drug. IPPF Lobbying European Parliament for Destructive Embryonic Stem Cell Research
While the European Parliament was discussing the 7th Research Framework Programme on Research, a group of academics and politicians who are supporters of “therapeutic” cloning launched a new petition. In it they called on the parliament to ensure that the Programme should confirm the funding of research projects on stem cells obtained from so called “supernumerary embryos”, and that eligibility to funding be extended to research projects on nuclear transfer which has more appropriately been called “clone and kill” or ‘therapeutic cloning”. This lobbying is being encouraged by International Planned Parenthood (IPPF) that is endeavouring to get as many signatures as possible to try to persuade the parliament to support this kind of destructive research. During the recent meeting of European Council of Ministers for Science and Research, representatives from Germany, Austria, Italy, Poland, Malta and Slovakia opposed the funding of embryonic stem cell research in the 7th Framework Programme that will establish the allocation of the European funds for the period 2007-2013. CBS News Poll Again Finds Americans Take Pro-Life View on Abortion
A new CBS News poll has again found that more Americans are taking a pro-life view on the issue of abortion. Asked about their personal views, 47% took a pro-life position opposing all or most abortions. Some 33% said abortion should only be legal in the rare cases of saving the mother's life or of rape and incest. 14% said it should only be legal to save the mother's life. Meanwhile, 46% took a pro-abortion position saying abortion should always be legal (29%) or be permitted but subject to greater restrictions than it is now (%). Ultimately, 64% of Americans want more restrictions on abortion. Three percent claimed ignorance. A January CBS News poll found a 50-42 pro-life split and a Los Angeles Times/Bloomberg poll released last week found a 51-46 pro-life split. Other polls, such as Gallup and Wirthlin Worldwide, have found a 55-45 pro-life margin. The CBS News poll was conducted April 6-9. LifeNews.com. END.
