Catholic Priest Burned to Death in Nigeria

The body of Fr. Isaac Achi was found among the burned down parish building of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church on the 15th of January. Gunmen burned the Catholic priest to death and shot and injured his colleague Fr. Collins.

The attackers and their motives are still unknown, but priests have previously been the target of terror attacks in the largely Muslim, Northern Nigeria.

In a moving testimony, it was revealed by colleague, Fr. Ugochukwu Ugwoke of the priest's last actions before he was murdered.

“The remains of Father Isaac Achị, the Catholic priest who was killed by terrorists in Minna last Sunday, will be buried this Friday,”

“As the rectory was under attack, Father Isaac and his associate priest offered each other the sacrament of confession before asking he asked the [Father Collins] to escape.”

Eternal rest grant unto Fr. Isaac Achi, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul rest in peace. Amen.
