Nancy Pelosi denied communion by Archbishop for publicly pushing abortion while labeling herself "devout Catholic"

27.05.2022

Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, has been publicly denied receiving communion by Archbishop Cordileone of San Francisco due to her repeated promotion of abortion while calling herself a “devout Catholic.”

Pelosi has been a long term advocate of abortion, even in the most barbaric and cruel forms. She criticized previous legislation that outlawed partial birth abortion. She voted against legislation 5 years ago where protection would be given to pre-born children who were capable of feeling pain. She voted against legislation that would offer protection to children who were born alive after an abortion, and many other measures.

Archbishop Cordileone did publicly give her the opportunity to either stop promoting abortion, or stop mentioning her Catholic faith, while doing so in a public notification last month.

When Pelosi refused to do either, the Archbishop publicly stated that she, as a public representative publicly promoting abortion while also misleadingly bringing in her "devout Catholic" faith into it, can no longer be offered Holy Communion.

He stated, “As you have not [publicly] repudiated your position on abortion, and continue to refer to your Catholic faith in justifying your position and to receive Holy Communion, that time has now come... Therefore, in light of my responsibility as the Archbishop of San Francisco to be ‘concerned for all the Christian faithful entrusted to (my) care’ … I am hereby notifying you that you are not to present yourself for Holy Communion and, should you do so, you are not to be admitted to Holy Communion, until such time as you [publicly] repudiate your advocacy for the legitimacy of abortion and confess and receive absolution of this grave sin in the sacrament of Penance.”
