Paramedic Who Secretly Aborted His Own Child Jailed

A shocking case in Scotland has highlighted the growing disregard for unborn life. Stephen Doohan, a 33-year-old paramedic, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after secretly causing the death of his unborn child.

Doohan met the victim while on holiday in Spain in 2021 and began a long-distance relationship with her, despite being married. When the woman became pregnant, she decided to continue with the pregnancy. However, Doohan wanted to avoid the consequences of fatherhood and hatched a plan to end the life of his own child.

Without the woman’s knowledge or consent, Doohan inserted abortion pills into her during intercourse, leading to the loss of the baby. This shocking act of betrayal left the mother traumatised, robbed of her child, and forced to endure the heartbreak of a miscarriage caused deliberately by someone she trusted.

In court, Doohan was found guilty of administering poison to procure a miscarriage and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. The judge described his actions as a “grave breach of trust,” and noted the profound emotional harm caused to the mother, who had expressed her intention to keep her baby.
