Scottish Paramedic Faces Jail for Spiking Partner with Abortion Pill
03.07.2025
A harrowing case in Scotland has revealed the hidden violence that abortion can unleash on women and their unborn children.
Stephen Doohan, a paramedic with the Scottish Ambulance Service, has pleaded guilty to secretly administering an abortion pill to his pregnant girlfriend without her knowledge, leading to the death of their unborn baby. The Daily Mail first reported on the case, which has shocked many across the UK.
The woman discovered she was pregnant in March 2023 and had decided to keep the baby. However, Doohan, who had met her while on holiday and failed to disclose he was married, crushed abortion pills into a syringe and administered them to her while at his Edinburgh flat. When she experienced severe cramps the next day, he gave her diazepam to mask the effects.
The courageous mother later found tablets matching abortion drugs and a syringe hidden in the room. Suspecting foul play, she recorded a conversation with Doohan, who confessed to trying to end the pregnancy. She reported him to the Scottish Ambulance Service, leading to his dismissal and subsequent police investigation.
In court, Doohan was told by Judge Lord Matthews that his crime was “appalling” and that a custodial sentence was inevitable. Doohan has also been placed on the sex offenders register while awaiting sentencing.
This tragic case highlights the dangers women face in a culture that normalises abortion, where a woman’s choice to continue her pregnancy can be violently stripped away. As pro-life advocates, we stand with this mother and her lost child, and we pray that this tragedy will awaken society to the urgent need to protect women and babies from such acts of hidden violence.
