Thousands Run Across America to Champion Life

In a powerful display of unity and purpose, thousands of pro-life advocates recently completed the LIFE Runners “A-Cross America Relay,” a 5,124-mile journey that stretched across the United States in the shape of a cross. The event culminated on October 25 at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas, where runners were met with cheers and prayers.
The relay began on September 5 from four corners of the country—California, New York, Texas, and North Dakota—and passed through 3,885 cities. Participants ran or walked 5K segments while wearing LIFE Runners gear emblazoned with pro-life messages, creating a visible witness for the unborn.
Dr. Patrick Castle, founder of LIFE Runners, praised the spirit of Benedictine College, noting how students spontaneously joined the final leg, reminiscent of a scene from Rocky. The last stretch ended with a crowd led by College President Stephen Minnis, and a blessing from Archbishop Joseph Naumann.
This year’s relay drew 10,000 participants from all walks of life, including thousands of students from kindergarten through college. Along the route, runners paused to pray at abortion facilities, and their presence made a tangible impact—two mothers in Omaha chose life after encountering the group’s peaceful witness.
The event wasn’t just about miles—it was about mission. As Castle shared, the final mile was offered up for an end to abortion, and the LIFE Runners Creed was recited in solidarity. Archbishop Naumann’s closing prayer called for a national awakening to protect life and support women in crisis.
With 12 million steps taken and countless hearts touched, the A-Cross America Relay stands as a testament to the enduring strength of the pro-life movement.
