Family & Life is supporting an inspiring mission in Kenema, Sierra Leone, where Catholics, often worshipping outdoors or in makeshift shelters, are working with heroic dedication to build simple, beautiful chapels where the Eucharist can be celebrated with reverence.

Partnering with Fr. Samuel and his missionary parish, local families have poured their hearts into constructing two chapels: one in Kenema, now nearing completion, and another in Njah Village, rebuilt from the ground up after a storm destroyed their only place of worship. With no machinery and no paid labour, parishioners walk miles through the jungle to gather materials, mould bricks while praying the Rosary, prepare food for volunteers, and shape timber by hand, all so Christ may have a home in their midst.

These chapels are already strengthening the faith of communities tempted by the rise of well-funded mosques, drawing families back to the Church and giving children a place to learn and pray. Thanks to this project both chapels, have works being carried out roofing, plastering, painting, and solar lighting, investments that will transform these humble structures into lasting beacons of hope, worship, and renewal for generations to come.
